Epyc Relyc: Power of Zeus

I do have a penchant for mythologically themed names, but Power of Zeus is one of those freak fuzzed out weighty 1970’s bands that I would like, epic mythologically themed name or not. Honestly, it’s not the most earth-shattering stuff, but when you have a whiskey-burning hole hankering for the heavy stuff, Power of Zeus is a welcome tonic. And for all you drummers- the introduction to the Sorcerer of Isis has hands down, some of the most freaked-out drum breaks in a long time. These guys are all groove, move, screaming guitars, funky bass lines and space-case meanderings. Not a cold kentucky bourbon Maker’s Mark on the rocks, but good for a good quick fix Black Velvet type of deal. It makes sense they were released by Motown based label, Rare Earth, ’cause the Hammond organs, bass and drums are pushed to the fore to give the album a real funk(adelic) feel.
